Services

In the first few sessions we will begin by getting to know each other and exploring what brings you into therapy at this time.  I will ask many questions so I can understand your history, the current difficulties, and get to the root cause of what is causing your suffering.  The therapy process will proceed at the pace you are comfortable with.  Typically, counseling sessions are 45-50 minutes long.  Along with the day-to-day struggles that arise out of our relationships, I am experienced in working with blended family issues, divorce and remarriage, and children who are dealing with developmental, emotional, and behavioral problems.  I work with LGBT challenges, loss, anger management, eating disorders, affective disorders (depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc.).

Psychotherapy/Talk Therapy/Counseling
I offer traditional psychotherapy or talk therapy for individuals of all ages, couples, families, and other relationship counseling, as well as counseling for parents struggling with parenting issues.

PREPARE/ENRICH
In addition to traditional talk therapy, I also offer the PREPARE/ENRICH program.  PREPARE/ENRICH is a program for premarital, cohabitating, or married couples.  The couple completes an inventory that highlights areas of strength and opportunities for growth.  The couple then meets with a therapist for approximately 6-8 feedback sessions to help them learn skills for building a stronger relationship.  For more information, please feel free to contact me or visit the PREPARE/ENRICH website at http://www.lifeinnovations.com/.

Services for Children and Adolescents
I work with children from ages 8 years through high school who are struggling with emotional or behavioral problems including dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and other developmental disorders, considering or attempting suicide, self-injurious behavior (cutting, drug/alcohol use, etc.), academic problems, relationship problems, family problems, etc.  I believe in working systemically by involving the family, school, and social networks when appropriate.  I utilize traditional talk therapy, play therapy and art therapy techniques, and I also work with parents to improve parenting skills.

Fees

Services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on household income when needed.

I accept cash, check , Visa, MasterCard, or Discover for payment.

Private paying clients choose not to involve insurance companies in their mental health care for a variety of reasons; such as:   ·

  • Freedom of choice—wanting to choose own therapist.
  • Flexibility—wanting the pace and duration of therapy set according to their own needs, rather than expectations and restrictions of insurance companies.
  • Increased confidentiality—private information stays in file, not open to insurance company. ·   No medical diagnosis—insurance companies require a medical diagnosis that stays in a client’s medical records for life.
  • A medical diagnosis may result in a “pre-existing condition”, where someone may be denied life insurance or other benefit.
